Posted September 29, 2009 – 1:01 pm in: Freeware, Windows 7 Tweaks
It’s no secret that Windows 7 is much faster than its predecessor Vista. Like in other areas, Windows 7 bests Vista in boot time as well. If you have a high-end machine like Quad-core 1.7 GHz Nehalem (Core i7) with 2GB of RAM and a SSD drive, you will be able to boot Windows 7 in just 11 seconds!
If you have already installed Windows 7 on a mid to high end machine, you might be curious to know the Windows 7 booting time on your machine.
BootRacer is free tool for Windows 7 and Vista (compatible with x86 & x64) that allows you calculate the time to logon and time to desktop easily.
Download, install and run BootRacer to begin the race. Before you start the race, you might want to customize the BootRacer settings to see the best results out of it.
You have options to run BootRacer for every boot or only once, display BootRacer window during race, display scores on the screen, write boot time to the Windows events log, write last shutdown time to events log, write difference with the best boot time.
And the best thing about this tool is that it calculates the time to logon and time to desktop separately.
Click on the advanced button to set the sensitivity level if the racing is not finishing on your machine. You can also view the last race results at any time by clicking Advanced > Last results option.
Overall, a great tool to know your Windows 7 and Vista boot time. You can download the latest version for Windows 7 and Vista from the link given below.
