How To Open & View Thumbs.db (Thumbnail Database) File In Windows

thumbsMany of you might already know about thumbs.db file in Windows. Thumbs.db is a hidden file by default, which is created by Windows Explorer.

For those who are not aware of thumbnail database files, thumbs.db files are created by Windows Explorer to speed up the display of thumbnails in folders. Although you can prevent Windows from creating thumbnail database files, but it’s not recommended.

Thumbnail Database Viewer is a small utility for Windows that enables you view thumbnail database (thumbs.db) files easily.

To view a thumbnail database file, drag and drop the thumbs.db file to the Thumbnail Database Viewer window. You can also click on a folder in the left pane to see if the folder contains thumbs.db file.

Although this is not a utility that we use regularly, you can give it a tray to view the contents of thumbs.db in your PC.
