In Windows Vista, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2, and Windows 7 operating systems, the boot configuration data (BCD) store contains the boot configuration parameters and controls the computer’s boot environment. BCDEdit is a command-line tool that can be used to add, delete, edit, and modify data in a BCD store. For those Windows Vista and Windows 7 users who are not familiar with BCD commands, here is a nice guide from Microsoft.
